Odd isn't it?

With the world apparently losing its mind and money losing its worth it is odd that those "barbarous relics" are suddenly seen as valuable. The tin-pot dictators don't load their planes with cash before fleeing the country, they skip off with a ton or two of gold, how quaint their notions of money are.

This seems to be an idea that gains popularity inversely to the gravity of the news. It seems to have cut short gold and silvers recent correction in mid-stride, as seen below;

I think it is kind of neat that the charts look almost identical.

In times of trouble people turn to what they know is true.

The world continues to go nuts

I wonder if my grandparents felt this way when the world fell apart in 1929?

There is constant noise out of Egypt with El Baradei flying there to lead protests (try to commandeer the coup, my guess) this is the same guy that couldn't find Iran's 400 acre centrifuge plant. One is left to dark wonderings as to who's side he has been on all along. The Muslim Brotherhood is standing back while the Administration and the rebels poke and prod each other, I am sure they will step in to "help restore order" after a good bit of blood has been spilled. Mubarak's family has packed up and split for England. The Muslim Brotherhood has long ties to terror and anti-Jewish groups like Hitler's Germany, if I were in charge of the IDF I would be in full disaster alert mode.

Bad news from freaking everywhere

2nD UPDATE: And now this, FEMA is looking for about 140 million (yes, million) food packets to stash in case the New Madrid Fault loses it's temper and destroys a big part of the central Midwest  https://www.fbo.gov/index?s=opportunity&mode=form&id=eaea338540a0aea155a48a650a077352&tab=core&_cview=0 And my wife and kids think I'm nuts for trying to stock up on food and ammo!

BTW they are, looking for special underwater body bags as well, apparently they think that a lot of people will get washed away when the Missippi flows backward like the last time the New Madrid Fault got frisky (Google "New Madrid Earthquake" to see for yourself).

UPDATE: Now it looks like Russia will be imposing price-caps to try to stop rampant inflation (already at an annualized 9% and still going up). But sleep peacefully my children, Printer Supremo Ben is 100% certain that he can stop inflation in "15 minutes", this most certainly won't be happening here.

Well it looks like the world is taking that Mayan 2012 thing seriously.

The Irish have just collapsed their governement, the Lebanese are willing to sellout their country to Hezbollah just to give the UN Commission the finger and China is driving over the "cliff of inflation" at max velocity. Not that I should talk we are experiencing daily multi-billion dollar cash-printing events here in the U.S. as Benny and the Inkjets creates money faster than the Treasury can print T-Bills.

So where does that place us?

Some prognostications in the typical No Bullshit style over at the Hedge. If you read nothing else about upcoming financial event this year, you need to read this.  http://www.zerohedge.com/article/guest-post-disinformation-fog-intensifies-economic-turmoil-develops

The fire rises higher

Both Virginia (http://www.zerohedge.com/article/virginia-creates-subcommittee-study-monetary-alternatives-case-terminal-fed-breakdown-consid )   and Montana ( http://montanasoundmoney.org/parksvideo.html)
are considering bills that would put the State in a position to issue money in the event of a collapse of the Dollar. Some other states (Georgia, Indiana, Montana, New Hampshire, and South Carolina) are considering such legislation as well.

Where did all that inflation go? And why do I keep finding it?

The other day I was driving to work and heard on the radio some government wanker going on about how there is no risk of inflation and quoting CPI stats from the BLS (Bureau of Labor and Statistics, a.k.a. the Bastards, Liars and Swindlers). Now I am no high-powered economist, just a regular Joe and it sure seems to me that the price of damned near everything is going up faster than my rate of adjustment (and certainly faster than my rate of pay). To resolve this confused state of mind I spent some time poking around on the BLS website and reading the explanation of what they are up to when they stir the bubbling pot of bullshit that they call statistics. My head hurts now, a lot.

A punishing turn of events

Precious metals, and most other commodities are getting crushed today. Bad news about the Euro and probably some significant manipulation by large players hold short positions have driven the price downward.

As I hold silver for long-term wealth protection this just offers a buying opportunity. It is brutal if you are in the paper market rather holding physical. One bit of encouragement is the small bounce at the end.

Speaks for itself

6:30 EST silver chart

Off to a great start; the sobering thought is that it isn't silver going up, it is your dollars (Euros, Yen etc) going up in flames.

I have to run out and grab some before it hits $35.00!

This still speaks for itself but in a different way; madness has gripped the world. None of the fundamentals have changed but silver drives off a cliff. Odd isn't it? You would almost think that somebody is up to something.

Well, I look at it this way, I now can buy more for my buck.
